Long before Starbucks established its presence in Jamaica, Cafe Blue was serving up gourmet hot and cold coffee beverages using beans sourced from Jamaica’s majestic Blue Mountains.
With so many ways to indulge in the distinct taste of Blue Mountain coffee and a variety of food options to pair it with, Cafe Blue’s menu was far from underwhelming! As my eyes scrolled up and down their menu, I was tempted to order everything. From my peripheral view, I could see the stares of the persons next in line while I debated on my final decision. It was obvious that their patience was wearing thin, but how could they expect me to decide?
Eventually I decided to order an iced mochaccino with a slice of red velvet cake – just two of the many items on their menu which, whether ordered separately or together, are sure to make any first-time visitor a repeat customer.
Their drinks range from coffees, lattes, espresso, cappuccinos, teas, and Jamaican hot chocolate (more commonly known as chocolate tea) to frappes and other cold artisan coffee drinks. If you’re not a fan of coffee, you’re missing out in a major way (just kidding!) If coffee isn’t your thing, they also offer lemonade, cold teas, fruit smoothies, and other specialty drinks. While you’re sure to have an exceptional gourmet experience just by indulging in a beverage alone, it can only get better by pairing your beverage with a sweet or savory bite to eat.
The café’s menu offers a variety of non-traditional Jamaican breakfast items (e.g. pancakes, bagels and croissants with different spreads and toppings, omelets with various ingredients, and French toast with a Jamaican twist). But it doesn’t stop there!
Of course, no café would be complete with just breakfast foods. Sandwiches, paninis and wraps, a variety of salads using fresh ingredients from local growers, and hand-crafted individual mac and cheese dishes take their rightful place on the menu. And let’s not forget the various cakes, flavored cheesecakes (like Baileys cheesecake), and other mouth-watering desserts that round it all off.
Wondering where you can indulge in one of the tasty beverages, desserts, or other items on their menu? Cafe Blue has six locations on the island concentrated in two areas – four in the parish of St. Andrew and the other two in Montego Bay, St. James parish. If you don’t get a chance to visit one of their locations during your stay, not to worry; their location in the Kingston airport makes it super convenient for travelers to indulge in the complete Cafe Blue experience before take-off.
When visiting Jamaica and looking for a gourmet coffee experience featuring Jamaica’s Blue Mountain coffee, Cafe Blue is the place to go!
